PERMANENT MAKEUP AFTERCARE

Please read all aftercare instructions on this page to make sure you can commit to this brow and/or lip journey, especially for the first 7-10 days.

Failure to follow these instructions may result in pigment loss, and/or infection, and results cannot be guaranteed.

Aftercare Instructions

Proper care following your procedure is important and required to achieve optimum results with your new brow or lip tattoo.

Keep in mind that some intensity of colour will be lost, and/or the colour may heal unevenly. This is normal for permanent makeup procedures,; especially after the initial application. It is also the reason why a second session is important - to fill in any light areas, to go a little darker or thicker if desired, and to adjust shape or colour if needed. Please read and follow the directions provided.

Important Notice

All tattoos carry the risk of infection and/or allergic reactions.

If swelling, pain, bruising persists for more than a few days, it may be a sign of infection, so be sure to contact your Doctor right away. If you experience excessive itching, swelling, blistering, or any other complications post-procedure, STOP using the aftercare product and contact your Artist immediately, you may be allergic to the aftercare product.

If you had your BROWS done, please read:

  • First Hours, Blotting Procedure:

We have created a wound and all wounds leak lymph fluids. It is important to blot off these fluids to obtain a good result and optimum colour retention.

If these excess fluids are not blotted, it can accumulate around the area, and you will receive heavier scabbing. Heavy scabbing can pull out the pigment which will result in light spots and unevenness of colour.

We want to minimize the scabbing. Please blot your new brows with a clean tissue or cotton pad every 15-30 minutes upon leaving the studio. Continue until leaking has subsided.

  • Washing:

Begin washing or cleansing the tattooed area with an unscented cleanser within 6 hours after your procedure then twice daily.

If a Cleanser has been provided to you, use this as a cleanser by itself on a cotton pad, and gently wipe the area clean (no water/rinse needed).

For additional comfort, keep the Cleanser in the fridge to chill before use.

Remember to pat dry before applying the Ointment after getting the procedure wet. Never put ointment on a wet or damp tattoo.

  • After 6 Hours:

Only use the Ointment provided to you, nothing else.

For oilier skin types, it should be used 6 hours post-procedure for only 24 hours.

Apply a thin, light coat of ointment 2-3 times a day for the first 7-10 days of healing and anytime after to soothe itchiness.

Always blot off any of the prior ointment before applying new layer of ointment.

An allergic reaction is extremely rare but possible. If you notice any bumps, rash, or suspect an allergic reaction, stop using the ointment immediately, cleanse the area and contact your Artist.

  • Showering:

From the procedure time until your brows have stopped flaking off on their own, do not take an exceptionally hot shower and keep bathroom doors open if possible to avoid causing a steam effect.

Do your best to keep the treated area out of the water while you do your other shower stuff first. At the very end of your shower wash your hair and rinse back away from your face. Wash your face either avoiding the treated area or over it with a very light touch. Avoid shower spray directly on your face, but because it’s almost impossible to keep it completely dry, keep a towel nearby and dab dry as needed and as soon as you are out of the shower.

  • Avoid:

    • For a minimum of 72 hours: Pet grooming, gardening, dusting, or anything that causes dust, dirt, and dander.

    • For 10 days: Avoid lake, beach, camping activities, horseback or ATV riding, tweezing, or waxing the eyebrows.

    • For 2 weeks: Please do not expose your tattooed area to chemicals, hot tubs, saunas, direct shower spray, hot water, chlorinated pools, lakes, or ponds. Direct sun exposure and tanning beds should be avoided. No facials, peels, brow tints, or any type of face treatments.

  • Makeup:

No makeup on the brows for a minimum of 7 -10 days. Makeup is bacterial and your new brows need adequate time to heal to avoid irritation and/or infection.

You may apply your makeup around the treated area but avoid applying on the healing areas.

  • Do Not PICK, PEEL, Or SCRATCH:

Avoid picking, peeling, or scratching the treated area as this could result in your colour healing uneven, as well as the risk of scarring and infection.

  • After The Flaking is Over:

    • You can continue with your regular routine, using water and facial cleanser. Do not be aggressive when washing your brows.

    • Please avoid ingredients like Retinoids, Vitamin A, AHAs, BHAs, or Physical Exfoliants around your brows area as it rapidly fade your tattoo.

    • You will need a follow-up appointment within 4-6 weeks after your initial session.

New procedures are sometimes a two-step process and final results are sometimes not determined until the follow-up visit is completed.

Do not judge your procedure while it is in the healing process as it may require a follow-up.

    • Any operations such as botox, facial laser treatments, or chemical peels will affect the pigment from the procedure and the overall appearance. Please notify your Physician prior to performing those services.

The Healing Process

Fresh brows will look bold and bright at first. They will get darker as they heal a few days later. Once flaking is over, you will experience that your brows are disappearing. That colour will return two weeks later and will look soft and natural. Please keep in mind, this timeline is a guideline only and will vary for each individual.

  • Day 1: Brow colour will appear vibrant and bright. Some clients may feel that their new brows look a little harsh, but this will soften 30-50% lighter as they heal. Redness and puffiness will dissipate within a couple of hours. Minor soreness may remain, but typically no medication or ice is needed.

  • Days 2 - 4: Brow colour will appear even darker and bolder than intended. This is temporary and will only last a few days on average.

  • Days 5 - 7: Your brows may begin to flake or scab and fall off. This step is normal and necessary. Whatever you do, do not pick at your brows. Let them naturally flake off.

  • Days 8 - 10: Your brows may appear several shades lighter once the scabbing is gone. It is common to worry that something is wrong. If you're following the aftercare fully, this is very normal. The top layer of the skin is fresh and is muting the pigment.

  • Days 12 - 30: Your brows will begin to appear darker and you may feel relieved to see some of the colour returning. It is common to be slightly patchy in spots and to feel that your brows aren't dark enough. Some people also notice small things they want to change about their brows - such as making them slightly bigger, or making one higher or lower, etc. Not to worry, that is why this is a two-step procedure and touch-ups are necessary!

  • After 6 Hours - Ointment:

  • Do Not PICK, PEEL, Or SCRATCH:

Avoid picking, peeling, or scratching the treated area as this could result in uneven healing, pigment loss, irritation, as well as the risk of scarring and infection.

  • After The Flaking Is Over:

    • Continue to keep lips moisturized as they will feel dry for a couple of weeks - use a neutral lip balm with SPF

    • If you use Retin-A, do not use it close to the treated area for thirty days. It will cause the area to peel and lighten

    • Smoking and biting lips is discouraged for optimal results

The Healing Process

  • Day 1: Lip colour will appear vibrant and bright as they are expected to heal 30-50% lighter. They may be slightly swollen and feel tender.

  • Days 1 - 3: Lip colour will appear even more vivid and start to feel tight and dry. Lips may still be slightly swollen.

  • Days 4 -10: The superficial layer of skin and pigment will begin to flake off. The lip underneath may not show much pigment at this stage - this is normal.

  • Days 11 - 30: The true lip colour will develop by the end of the month, by which time you can decide whether you will need a touch-up.
